Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to
those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh,
but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
What does it mean to be found not guilty in the court of law?
In
the world today being found not guilty will get you freedom from the
charges that were brought against you, but the world will continue to
bring up the crime that you were accused of. We are much the same way,
we were found not guilty according to God but our flesh continues to
live in the past, constantly bringing up who we were before Christ came
into our lives.
Romans 6: 5-11
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him,
that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer
be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now
if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more.
Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life
that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon
yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
If we are God's children reconciled by Christ death on
the cross, and empowered by the Holy Spirit that lives within us, why
do we continue to call ourselves unworthy and act as though we are
still on trial?
Don't look back on your past failures, or those
things that held you down in the past, renew your mind, and start
living in God's love and grace.
This week the headline of the
paper reads found not guilty never to be tried again, now we must go
out and live your lives life the heirs that we are in Christ.
Through Christ our sins are forgiven, through God's grace our sins are forgotten!
